Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join a remote, international engineering consultancy. You will provide expert geotechnical analysis and design solutions for infrastructure, mining, and industrial projects, with emphasis on Richards Bay and global opportunities.

You will conduct investigations, perform numerical modeling, advise on foundation design, prepare reports, and liaise with clients and project teams while leading and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Professional registration (PE) strongly preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience across diverse projects.
• Extensive experience with geotechnical software such as Plaxis, GeoStudio, FLAC.
• Proven ability to manage remote projects, budgets, and client relationships.
• Strong site investigation techniques and laboratory testing knowledge.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a virtual team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations and interpret soil/rock data.
• Perform advanced numerical modeling for slope stability, settlement, and seismic response.
• Provide expert foundation design guidance for buildings, bridges, and dams.
• Develop geotechnical reports, specs, and design recommendations.
• Liaise with clients, PMs and construction teams to ensure practical designs.
• Review and mentor junior geotechnical engineers and technicians.
• Contribute to development of new geotechnical methods and technologies.
• Ensure compliance with geotechnical standards and best practices.
• Manage multiple geotechnical projects from proposal to completion.
