Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Geotechnical Engineer for a leading civil engineering firm in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will manage geotechnical investigations, analyses, and design for residential, commercial and transportation projects, with extensive fieldwork and reporting.

The role requires coordinating lab tests, interpreting results, and delivering design input while mentoring junior staff to ensure soil and rock conditions drive safe foundation and earthworks solutions in line with SA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical focus.
• Professional registration as Pr. Eng. with ECSA.
• 7+ years of geotechnical site investigation, analysis and design.
• Experience with borehole logs, lab tests, and in-situ data.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute and manage geotechnical site investigations (drilling, CPT, pits).
• Interpret borehole logs, lab results and in-situ tests.
• Perform slope stability, bearing capacity, settlement and seismic analyses.
• Design foundations, retaining walls, and earthworks considering soil-structure interaction.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical and design reports and specs.
• Provide geotechnical input for infrastructure projects and regulatory liaison.
• Oversee construction geotechnical aspects and earthworks supervision.
• Mentor junior geotechnical engineers and technicians.
