Placements24 is sourcing a Senior Civil Engineer specialized in Geotechnical Engineering for a Johannesburg-based role. You will lead geotechnical investigations, design shallow and deep foundations, and assess seismic hazards across major infrastructure projects.

The position combines office work with site visits and entails mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. Applicants should have a Civil Engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) with Geotechnical focus,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical specialization.
• Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software such as Plaxis, GeoStudio, and Rocscience Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance and sampling.
• Perform detailed analysis: slope stability, foundation design, seismic hazard assessment.
• Develop geotechnical design reports, specifications, and drawings for infrastructure.
• Oversee tender documents and participate in evaluations.
• Mentor and develop junior geotechnical engineers and technicians.
