Job summary
Placements24 in Kimberley seeks an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to support energy infrastructure projects in the Northern Cape. You will assess ground conditions, design foundations, and prepare geotechnical reports for substations, wind turbine and solar farm facilities.
The role requires site investigations, soil and rock mechanics expertise, and collaboration with project managers and construction teams to ensure safety, compliance, and successful project delivery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical specialization.
- Minimum 5 years of geotechnical experience on energy infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with geotechnical software such as PLAXIS and GeoStudio.
Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee geotechnical investigations including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
- Analyze soil and rock properties, groundwater, and seismic hazards.
- Design foundations for energy infrastructure (shallow and deep).
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports with design recommendations.
- Provide technical support during construction addressing subsurface challenges.
- Ensure geotechnical work complies with codes, standards, and project requirements.
