Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to major energy projects in Mossel Bay. You will perform site investigations and design foundations to ensure stability for power plants and renewable energy infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has a civil engineering degree with geotechnical specialization, 5+ years of experience, and proficiency in PLAXIS or GeoStudio, along with strong reporting and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical specialization.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant geotechnical investigation and design experience, preferably in the energy sector.
• Strong understanding of soil and rock mechanics and foundation engineering principles.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software (PLAXIS, GeoStudio) for analysis and modeling.
• Experience with site investigation techniques and laboratory testing procedures.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee site investigations, including drilling, CPT, and in-situ testing to characterize subsurface conditions.
• Perform laboratory testing and analysis of soil and rock samples to determine their engineering properties.
• Conduct geotechnical design for foundations, retaining walls, slopes, and other infrastructure elements.
• Analyze seismic risks and provide recommendations for earthquake-resistant design.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, specifications, and drawings for project documentation.
• Provide technical support and guidance to construction teams during the implementation phase.
