Job summary

Placements24 in Cape Town is seeking a Senior Geologist to join its exploration team. You will identify and evaluate energy resources, build integrated subsurface models and collaborate with engineers and geophysicists to support strategic exploration decisions.

The role requires a Master’s in Geology, 8+ years of exploration geology experience, and proficiency with Petrel and Kingdom Suite. Travel for conferences and fieldwork is possible; relocation support may be available.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Geology or a related geoscience field.
Minimum 8 years of experience in exploration geology, preferably in oil & gas or renewable energy.
Proficiency in geological modeling software (Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
Strong knowledge of sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology and basin analysis.
Experience with seismic interpretation and integrating diverse geological datasets.
Excellent communication, teamwork and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

Interpret geological data from seismic surveys, well logs and core samples to define prospectivity.
Develop and refine subsurface geological models for exploration and development projects.
Identify and rank exploration leads and prospects based on geological risk and potential reward.
Collaborate with geophysicists on seismic data processing and interpretation workflows.
Prepare detailed geological reports and presentations for management and reviews.
Contribute to the overall exploration strategy and portfolio management.
