Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geologist with a strong Exploration background to join a Kimberley-based team in South Africa. You will lead geological surveys, plan exploration programs, and evaluate mineral resource opportunities in challenging terrains.

The role requires 7+ years of mineral exploration experience, a Master's in Geology, proven project leadership, and robust GIS/data management skills. Travel to field sites and remote locations is expected.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Geology or related Earth Science.
Minimum of 7 years of mineral exploration geology experience.
Proven track record of exploration project management and target generation.
Strong skills in geological interpretation, GIS software, and database management.

Responsibilities

Plan, design, and manage geological exploration programs, including fieldwork and data acquisition.
Conduct geological mapping, sampling, and core logging to define prospective areas.
Analyze and interpret geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to identify mineral targets.
Prepare comprehensive technical reports, resource estimates, and exploration strategy recommendations.
Collaborate with geophysicists, geochemists, and mining engineers to integrate different datasets.
Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations during all exploration activities.
