Placements24 is seeking a Senior Petroleum Geologist for our Durban-based client to lead geological interpretation, seismic analysis, and play evaluation in oil and gas exploration. You will work with seismic data, well logs, and core samples to delineate hydrocarbon prospects and contribute to exploration strategy.

The ideal candidate has a PhD or Master's in Geology or Geophysics with 10+ years of petroleum exploration experience, proficiency in Petrel and Kingdom Suite, and strong

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in petroleum exploration geology with a strong focus on structural and stratigraphic interpretation.
• Proficiency with geological software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite) and seismic interpretation tools.
• Deep understanding of sedimentary basins, depositional environments, and petroleum systems.
• Demonstrated ability in prospect generation and geological risk assessment.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and data visualization skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret seismic data, well logs, and core data to identify and map potential hydrocarbon reservoirs.
• Perform basin analysis and play fairway mapping to prioritize exploration targets.
• Conduct geological risk assessments and uncertainty analysis for exploration prospects.
• Collaborate with geophysicists to integrate geological models with geophysical interpretations.
• Contribute to the planning and execution of geological field studies and data acquisition programs.
• Prepare detailed geological reports and presentations for management and potential partners.
