Job summary

Karen Tupper Recruitment is seeking an experienced Front Office Manager to oversee daily operations, lead a busy team and ensure guest satisfaction in Hermanus. You will manage staff training, scheduling and performance, while upholding five‑star service standards and robust SOPs.

The role requires 6+ years in front office operations, including 2–4 years in a similar role, with advanced Opera PMS knowledge and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• South African citizen and must reside in Hermanus or surrounding areas
• Matric/Grade 12 qualification and a Diploma or higher
• At least 6 years of relevant experience, including 2–4 years in a similar role
• Experience as Front Office Manager or Assistant Front Office Manager in a five‑star hotel
• Advanced knowledge of Opera PMS and strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
• HR knowledge, especially disciplinary procedures
• Excellent written and spoken English communication
• Good knowledge of the local area
• Strong leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills
• Professional presentation and guest‑focused approach
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced hospitality environment

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Front Office operations and ensure efficient service delivery.
• Lead, develop and support staff through training, performance management and fair scheduling.
• Address enquiries and resolve guest complaints professionally.
• Maintain accurate guest records, room charges and departmental information.
• Manage departmental budgets, costs, inventory and equipment.
• Communicate operational updates with staff and other departments.
• Develop and maintain SOPs for the Front Office.
• Uphold hotel values and service standards.
• Maintain high standards of organisation, professionalism and efficiency.
