Job summary

Hire Resolve is seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to drive growth in Pretoria and surrounding areas within the FMCG perishable goods sector. The role focuses on developing new business, managing customer relationships, and delivering sales targets in a fast-moving environment.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years in FMCG sales, strong business development skills, and a proven ability to manage retailers and wholesalers while ensuring product care and timely deliveries.

Qualifications

• Matric certificate.
• 3–5 years' experience in general sales functions within the FMCG sector.
• Current or recent experience in the FMCG perishable goods industry is essential, ideally within the dairy or egg industries.
• Strong business development skills, with a proven track record of hunting for new business and driving sales.
• Good knowledge of Pretoria and the surrounding areas, including the retail and wholesale environments.
• Fluency in English and local South African languages.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
• Well-spoken, articulate, and professionally presented.
• Computer literate.
• Ability to work independently and take a proactive approach to tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and a neat, organised work ethic.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to work weekends and public holidays.
• Willingness to learn, drive processes, and improve operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Identify sales leads, develop new business opportunities, and increase sales within the assigned territory.
• Gather market intelligence on pricing, competitor activity, and market trends.
• Handle customer queries and complaints professionally and efficiently.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with retail and wholesale customers.
• Ensure proper product care at store level, including stock rotation, forward share, expiry dates, and storage conditions.
• Manage customer credits and returns, implementing strategies to reduce credit claims.
• Assist the telesales team in ensuring customer orders are received on time.
• Manage and coordinate merchandisers at store level.
• Improve product delivery turnaround times through effective customer and stakeholder relationships.
• Provide regular formal and informal reports on sales performance, market developments, and operational activities.
