Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join our finance team in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. The role focuses on accurate IFRS financial reporting, tight month-end processes, and internal controls to safeguard assets.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of accounting experience, a relevant degree, and a professional qualification (CA(SA)/ACCA/CIMA) desirable. You will mentor junior staff and contribute to strategic financial initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (CA(SA), ACCA or CIMA) desirable.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2 years in a senior/supervisory role.
• Proficiency in SAP or Oracle and advanced Excel.
• Strong IFRS knowledge.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare and review IFRS-based financial statements.
• Perform variance analysis with budget and prior periods.
• Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable.
• Reconcile bank statements and GL accounts.
• Assist with budgets and forecasts.
• Support external audits.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Mentor junior accounting staff.
