Based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, the candidate will plan, install, test, and commission systems, while providing guidance to end-users and documenting progress for project managers and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and execute on-site installations of complex machinery and integrated systems according to technical specifications and project timelines.
• Conduct thorough pre-installation checks, including site surveys and readiness assessments, to ensure a smooth deployment process.
• Perform system testing, calibration, and commissioning to verify functionality and performance against defined benchmarks.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues during installation and initial operation, escalating complex problems to senior engineering teams when necessary.
• Provide technical guidance and support to end-users and on-site personnel, ensuring proper system operation and maintenance procedures are understood.
• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all installation activities, including progress reports, test results, and site completion forms.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, engineering, and support teams through virtual channels to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and company standards during field operations, even when working independently on client premises.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Installation Technician, Field Service Engineer, or similar role, with a strong emphasis on industrial equipment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Hands-on experience with electromechanical systems, control panels, wiring, and diagnostic tools.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to identifying root causes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and internal teams remotely.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel to client sites as required, though the role is primarily remote managed.
• Relevant technical certifications or a degree/diploma in a related engineering or technical field is highly advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively in a remote work setting.
• Familiarity with CRM or field service management software is a plus.
