Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Social Worker to lead the Family Support Services team in George, Western Cape. The role focuses on advanced therapeutic interventions, case management and service delivery innovation for vulnerable families in the George community.

The ideal candidate has an MSW, SACSSP registration, and at least 7 years post-qualifying experience with 3 years in a supervisory capacity, plus expertise in family therapy and crisis intervention.

Qualifications

• MSW or equivalent required.
• SACSSP registration as Social Worker.
• Minimum 7 years post-qualifying experience, 3+ in supervisory role, preferably in family services.
• Expertise in family therapy, child protection, and crisis intervention.
• Strong leadership, team management and mentorship skills.
• In-depth knowledge of the Western Cape social service landscape.
• Excellent report writing and communication abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel across George.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced social work interventions, including counseling and therapy to families and individuals.
• Lead and mentor a team of social workers with supervision and guidance.
• Manage complex caseloads, including high-risk child protection cases and reunification efforts.
• Develop and implement strategic programs to enhance family well-being in George.
• Conduct thorough assessments, formulate treatment plans, and monitor progress.
• Collaborate with government agencies, schools, healthcare providers, and community orgs.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and ethical social work standards.
• Facilitate psycho-educational groups and workshops for families and community members.
• Contribute to policy development and advocacy for family services.
• Maintain accurate, confidential client records and prepare detailed reports.
