Job summary

Akilconnect is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead mining infrastructure projects. You will oversee concept through EPCM phases, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure safe, compliant delivery of conveyor and bulk material handling systems.

The role requires strong technical governance, liaison with clients, and adherence to FIDIC/NEC contracts, with a track record in brownfield or greenfield mining projects. Travel to site may be required.

Qualifications

BSc / BEng / BTech in Mechanical Engineering required.
Professional registration with ECSA preferred (Pr Eng/Pr Tech Eng).
PM registration (PMP/SACPCMP/ PMI) is an added advantage.
10–15 years mining engineering experience with materials handling exposure.
Minimum 5 years leading multidisciplinary engineering teams (Engineering Manager/Lead Engineer).
Proven conveyor belt design and mining project delivery experience.

Responsibilities

Manage engineering delivery across mining projects from concept to handover.
Lead multidisciplinary teams: mechanical, electrical, civil, process, and more.
Provide technical governance on conveyor systems and bulk material handling.
Review and guide conveyor belt design deliverables and interfaces.
Coordinate home-office and site interfaces to ensure design intent through procurement and construction.
Support change control, risk reviews, and design reviews.
Ensure compliance with mining legislation and client standards.
