Job summary

MECS Africa in Bryanston, Johannesburg, South Africa, seeks a Lead Control & Instrumentation Engineer with extensive C&I expertise for mining and heavy industry projects. The role involves integration of control systems across EPCM, from design through commissioning and handover, with travel to Zimbabwe as required.

The position requires a degree in electrical/instrumentation engineering, professional registration advantage, and readiness for on-site activities across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, Control or Instrumentation Engineering is required.
• Professional registration with ECSA (advantageous) and willingness to travel international.
• Passport and ability to travel internationally are essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review C&I engineering deliverables.
• Review control philosophies, FDS and P&IDs.
• Review instrument datasheets and specifications.
• Review PLC, SCADA and DCS architectures.
• Provide input into automation and process control systems.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards and project requirements.
• Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews.
• Provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
• Assist with site inspections, QA/QC and handover documentation.
