Job summary

MECS Africa is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical discipline across all project phases, from concept through commissioning and handover, on mining and mineral processing projects in Africa.

You will collaborate with engineering consultants, construction, commissioning and operations teams, ensuring design integrity, risk management and adherence to standards. International travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• ECSA Pr Eng registration mandatory.
• International travel ability required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical engineering discipline across all project phases.
• Provide technical oversight of deliverables and reviews.
• Review layouts, equipment sizing, and specifications.
• Guide engineering reviews and value engineering initiatives.
• Mentor junior engineers and graduates.
• Ensure compliance with standards and project specs.
• Lead design reviews and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Support procurement with technical inputs and FATs.
