Placements24 is seeking an innovative Energy Storage Systems Engineer to join a fully remote team in South Africa. You will design, model, and optimize battery energy storage systems (BESS) for grid-scale and commercial applications, ensuring safety and grid compatibility.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and at least 5 years of power systems experience focused on energy storage. Remote collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of power systems engineering experience with energy storage.
• Strong understanding of battery chemistries, power electronics, and control systems for BESS.
• Proficiency in energy modeling software and simulation tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify components for energy storage systems, including batteries, inverters, and control systems.
• Perform system sizing, energy modeling, and performance analysis for BESS projects.
• Develop control strategies and software requirements for integration with renewables and the grid.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical due diligence for potential energy storage projects.
