Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for mining facilities near Polokwane, Limpopo. The role covers design, installation, and optimization of electrical assets including substations, MCCs, VSDs, and distribution networks, ensuring safe and reliable operations.

You will lead engineers and technicians, drive safety compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act, and manage projects, budgets, and schedules in a hybrid work arrangement with regular on-site presence near Polokwane.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Pr. Eng registration with ECSA.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 in mining.
• In-depth knowledge of mine electrical systems, HV reticulation, substations, MCCs, VSDs, and underground power supply.
• Experience with electrical safety management systems and risk assessment.

About the Role

Our client, a leading mining corporation with extensive operations, is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to oversee and manage electrical systems and projects within their mining facilities near Polokwane, Limpopo. This vital role ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all electrical infrastructure, including power generation, distribution, heavy mobile equipment, and processing plant electrical systems. You will be responsible for design, installation, maintenance, and optimization of electrical assets, contributing significantly to operational continuity and safety. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the design, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment for mining operations, including substations, power lines, and reticulation.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of electrical systems for fixed plant and mobile equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant mining regulations, safety standards (e.g., Mine Health and Safety Act), and electrical codes.
• Conduct electrical risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers and technicians.

• Troubleshoot complex electrical problems and implement solutions to minimize operational impact.
