• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical design engineering with focus on power systems/renewable energy.
• Proven expertise with AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PSS/E or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of power system analysis, protection schemes and grid interconnection requirements.
• Experience with renewable energy technologies (solar PV, battery storage) is highly desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Ensure compliance with national and international electrical standards and regulations.
• Provide technical support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.

About the Role

Our client, a leading innovator in power solutions and renewable energy infrastructure, is looking for a highly skilled Senior Electrical Design Specialist to join their team in Klerksdorp. This role is pivotal in developing cutting-edge electrical designs for a variety of projects, from grid-connected systems to off-grid renewable energy installations. You will be responsible for the entire design process, from conceptualization through to detailed engineering, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance. This hybrid role allows for flexibility, blending essential on-site collaboration with the ability to work remotely, fostering a productive and balanced work environment in Klerksdorp.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design and engineering for complex projects, including solar farms, battery storage systems, and microgrids.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and wiring layouts using industry-standard CAD software.
• Perform power systems analysis, load flow studies, fault current calculations, and protection coordination.
• Select appropriate electrical components, equipment, and switchgear, ensuring compatibility and compliance with project specifications.
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including design reports, specifications, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and testing procedures.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines to ensure design integrity and project objectives are met.
• Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant national (e.g., SANS) and international electrical standards and regulations.
• Provide technical support during the procurement, construction, and commissioning phases of projects.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in power electronics, renewable energy technologies, and grid integration strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical design engineering, with a strong focus on power systems and/or renewable energy projects.
• Proven expertise in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, PSS/E, or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of power system analysis, protection schemes, and grid interconnection requirements.
• Experience with renewable energy technologies (solar PV, battery storage) is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of relevant South African electrical codes and standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration and client interaction.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative hybrid team.
• Candidates based in or near Klerksdorp are preferred.
