Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to orchestrate the design of electrical systems for large-scale renewable energy projects. This remote-first role collaborates with global teams and manages a skilled engineering group.

You will guide design from concept to detailed engineering, ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards, and support procurement, construction, and commissioning across South Africa.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems.
• Min 10 years in electrical engineering; at least 5 years in renewable energy (solar/wind).
• Knowledge of grid interconnection standards and requirements.
• Experience leading engineering teams and managing design projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for utility-scale solar and wind projects from concept to detailed engineering.
• Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, protection and control schemes, and equipment specs.
• Perform power system studies (load flow, short circuit, stability, grounding) using industry software.
