Placements24 is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer for a fully remote role that supports projects with a global footprint, including Stellenbosch, Western Cape. The role focuses on driving electrical design for large-scale solar and wind projects from concept to detailed design.

The candidate will mentor junior engineers, ensure technical integrity of electrical systems, and stay abreast of evolving renewable energy technologies. Global collaboration is expected from a remote workspace.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialization.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design for renewable energy projects.
• PE license or equivalent is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process for utility-scale renewable energy projects (solar & wind).
• Develop and oversee detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams and wiring schedules.
• Perform power system calculations: load flow, fault analysis, protection coordination.
• Specify transformers, switchgear, inverters, and cabling.
• Ensure compliance with national/international electrical standards.
