Placements24 is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join a fully remote, international team. You will design, build, and scale AWS-based infrastructure, and own CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable releases.

In this Durban-based role, you will implement IaC with Terraform or CloudFormation, manage Kubernetes containers, and collaborate with global engineers to uphold security and performance standards in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• Proven DevOps experience with a focus on AWS.
• Hands-on with EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch.
• Scripting in Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Container tech: Docker, Kubernetes.
• CI/CD practices with Jenkins, GitLab CI or CircleCI.
• IaC with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Networking, security, and admin knowledge.
• Experience with monitoring/logging: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure on AWS.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong focus on AWS.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of networking concepts, security best practices, and system administration.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, essential for remote work.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
