About the Role

Our client, a renowned architectural practice with a strong portfolio of impactful urban projects, is seeking an experienced Senior Design Architect to lead the design of ambitious mixed-use developments. This key role, based in Polokwane, Limpopo , involves conceptualizing and developing integrated urban environments that blend residential, commercial, and public spaces seamlessly. You will be responsible for guiding design teams, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring that projects are innovative, sustainable, and contextually relevant. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in large-scale, complex projects, exceptional design sensibility, and a deep understanding of urban planning principles. Key Responsibilities

Lead the conceptualization and design development of large-scale mixed-use developments. Develop innovative architectural solutions that integrate diverse programmatic elements (residential, retail, office, public space). Guide and mentor design teams throughout the project lifecycle, fostering a collaborative and creative environment. Engage with clients, developers, urban planners, and community stakeholders to align project vision and objectives. Prepare high-quality design presentations, including master plans, conceptual drawings, and visualizations. Ensure designs respond sensitively to the local context, climate, and cultural considerations. Oversee the integration of sustainable design strategies and technologies. Coordinate with engineering disciplines and consultants to ensure design coherence. Stay abreast of urban design trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements. Contribute to the firm's reputation for design excellence and innovation.

Requirements

Master's degree in Architecture or Urban Design. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience, with a significant focus on mixed-use and large-scale urban projects. Demonstrated ability to lead design teams and manage complex design processes. Exceptional design talent and a strong portfolio showcasing conceptual innovation and built work. Proficiency in advanced architectural design and visualization software (e.g., Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, Adobe Creative Suite). Strong understanding of urban planning principles, zoning regulations, and development processes. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Experience working with multiple stakeholders and managing client expectations. Knowledge of sustainable design practices and their application in mixed-use developments. Professional registration with SACAP is highly regarded.
