Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Urban Architect to spearhead mixed-use developments in Tembisa, Gauteng. The role requires visionary leadership, deep urban design knowledge, and a track record of delivering complex projects from feasibility to construction documentation.

You will mentor design teams, liaise with authorities and clients, and ensure compliance with South African planning legislation while championing sustainable design practices.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architecture or Urban Planning.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in architectural design with at least 5 years in lead or senior urban design roles.
• Proven success in leading and delivering significant mixed-use urban development projects.
• Expertise in urban planning theories, design principles, and SA planning legislation.
• Professional SACAP registration is mandatory.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization and design development of large-scale mixed-use urban projects.
• Develop master plans and urban design strategies in collaboration with planning authorities and stakeholders.
• Manage and mentor a team of architects and designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

• Expertise in urban planning theories, design principles, and South African planning legislation.
• Proficiency in advanced design and visualization software (e.g., Rhino, Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion/Enscape).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage project budgets and timelines effectively.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and public consultation processes.
• A strong portfolio showcasing award-winning or impactful urban design projects.
• Professional registration with SACAP is mandatory.
