About the Role

Our client, a prominent multidisciplinary design firm with a strong focus on shaping urban environments, is seeking an experienced Lead Urban Design Architect for their office in Polokwane, Limpopo . This role is crucial for developing visionary urban design strategies, master plans, and architectural frameworks for large-scale urban development projects. You will lead design teams, engage with city planners, community stakeholders, and developers to create sustainable, livable, and functional urban spaces. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of urban planning principles, architectural design, public space design, and the socio-economic factors influencing urban development. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization and development of urban design strategies and master plans for diverse projects.
• Create compelling visual representations, including master plans, concept designs, and urban typologies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, developers, and community groups, to gather input and build consensus.
• Ensure designs promote sustainability, inclusivity, and high quality of life within urban contexts.
• Coordinate architectural design elements within larger urban development frameworks.
• Conduct site analysis, feasibility studies, and policy reviews related to urban development.
• Manage project teams, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality urban design deliverables.
• Present design proposals and urban strategies to clients and public bodies.
• Stay informed on global trends and best practices in urban design and planning.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning, Architecture, or a related field.
• Minimum of 9 years of professional experience in urban design and/or architectural master planning.
• Proven track record of successfully leading complex urban design projects from concept to implementation.
• Strong understanding of urban planning principles, zoning regulations, and public policy.
• Expertise in urban design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, GIS, Adobe Creative Suite).
• Excellent graphic communication and presentation skills.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Experience working on projects within Polokwane or the Limpopo province is highly advantageous.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
