About the Role

Our client, a leading logistics and delivery services provider, is seeking an experienced and highly reliable Senior Delivery Driver to join their dynamic team in Midrand, Gauteng . This role is crucial for ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods across the region. The ideal candidate will possess excellent knowledge of local routes, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of customer service. Key Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently operate a variety of delivery vehicles, from light commercial vehicles to larger trucks, ensuring all goods are transported securely. Plan and optimize daily delivery routes within the Gauteng area, taking into account traffic conditions, delivery windows, and fuel efficiency. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring vehicles are maintained in excellent condition and reporting any mechanical issues promptly. Load and unload goods accurately and with care, verifying delivery manifests and ensuring correct quantities are dispatched. Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, including professional interaction, proof of delivery collection, and handling of any delivery-related queries. Mentor and assist junior delivery drivers, sharing best practices for route planning, vehicle operation, and customer interaction. Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies. Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents encountered. Collaborate with the dispatch and logistics team to resolve delivery challenges and adapt to schedule changes.

Requirements

A valid Code 10 or Professional Driver's Permit (PDP) is essential. A minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a professional driver, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory capacity. Demonstrable knowledge of the Midrand and surrounding Gauteng road networks. Excellent driving record with no major infringements. Physical fitness to handle loading and unloading of goods, which may be heavy at times. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer and team interaction. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet strict deadlines. Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety checks. Experience with route planning software or GPS navigation systems is advantageous. A professional and responsible attitude towards work and safety.
