About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate and maintain a medium to heavy-duty delivery vehicle for the transport of goods.
• Plan and execute daily delivery routes efficiently to meet strict deadlines, utilizing GPS and other navigation tools.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any mechanical issues or defects immediately.
• Load and unload cargo securely and accurately, ensuring goods are protected from damage during transit.
• Provide exceptional customer service during delivery interactions, confirming recipient details and obtaining necessary signatures.
• Maintain accurate delivery logs, mileage records, and any required paperwork.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with inventory management and stock taking as required.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior drivers on best practices and company procedures.

Requirements

• Valid Code 10 (C1) or Code 14 (EC1) driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Professional Driver's Permit (PDP) is essential.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience, preferably in a similar delivery or logistics role.
• Proven experience in route planning and navigation, with knowledge of the Midrand, Gauteng area and surrounding regions.
• Excellent understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy loads (up to 25kg) and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and possess a strong work ethic.
• Previous experience in a senior or supervisory driving role is highly advantageous.
