Placements24 is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join a fully remote security team supporting operations across Benoni, Gauteng. You will design, implement, and maintain robust security systems and respond to advanced threats from a home office.

Ideal candidates have 5-7 years in cybersecurity engineering, strong network security, cloud security knowledge (AWS/Azure/GCP), and hands-on experience with SIEM/EDR and penetration testing. This remote role offers flexibility and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5-7 years of progressive experience in cybersecurity engineering or a related role.
• Extensive experience with network security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs).
• Proficiency in security scripting (Python, PowerShell) and automation tools.
• Strong understanding of cloud security principles (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with SIEM, EDR, and other security monitoring tools.
• Proven ability to conduct thorough security assessments and penetration tests.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, adapted for remote interaction.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in a remote team setting.
• Relevant industry certifications (CISSP, OSCP, CCSP) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage advanced cybersecurity solutions and infrastructure.
• Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures for a remote workforce.
• Proactively identify and analyze potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
• Lead incident response activities for complex security breaches.
• Conduct regular security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scanning.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including architecture diagrams and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure system configurations and deployments.
• Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and trends.
• Mentor junior security engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the organization's security capabilities.
