Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Credit Risk Manager to oversee credit risk operations in Pretoria, Gauteng. This senior role will shape risk strategy, lead a risk team, and ensure regulatory compliance across large corporate portfolios.

You will drive credit risk modeling, stress testing, and mitigation of potential losses, while reporting to senior management and collaborating with business units for balanced risk and commercial goals.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• 7+ years of experience in credit risk management within banking/financial services.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Deep understanding of credit risk modeling, Basel Accords, and SA regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain credit risk management strategy and policies.
• Lead and mentor the credit risk team.
• Oversee assessment and approval of credit applications for large corporate clients.
• Monitor creditworthiness of the existing loan portfolio and identify risks.
• Design and implement stress testing and scenario analysis for credit risk.
• Ensure compliance with SARB regulations and other regulatory frameworks.
• Collaborate with business units to balance risk appetite with commercial objectives.
• Prepare reports on credit risk exposure for senior management and board.
• Develop and refine credit scoring models and early warning systems.
• Manage relationships with external rating agencies and auditors.
