Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Credit Risk Manager for a prominent financial institution in Centurion, Gauteng. You will lead corporate banking risk, shaping risk appetite, policies, and modeling frameworks to protect the loan portfolio.

The role requires 8–10 years in credit risk within corporate banking, advanced analytical skills, and strong leadership to drive performance while ensuring Basel III/IV compliance and prudent risk-taking in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or related quantitative field.
• CFA or FRM qualifications are highly desirable.
• 8–10 years of experience in credit risk management within corporate or commercial banking.
• Strong knowledge of credit risk methodologies, financial statement analysis, and loan structuring.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and refine credit risk policies, procedures, and appetite statements for corporate banking.
• Oversee assessment and approval of significant corporate credit facilities with compliance to risk standards.
• Monitor credit quality of the corporate loan portfolio and implement mitigation strategies.
• Analyze financial statements, market data, and economic conditions to assess creditworthiness.
• Lead a team of credit analysts and risk officers with mentorship and performance management.
• Develop and maintain credit risk models (PD, LGD, EAD).
• Report on credit risk exposures, portfolio performance, and emerging risks to senior management and board.
• Ensure compliance with Basel III/IV and internal risk guidelines.
• Engage with regulators, auditors, and relationship managers on credit risk matters.
• Contribute to strategic planning and business development from a risk perspective.
