Placements24 is seeking a Senior Community Relations Manager to lead engagement with communities in Randburg, Gauteng. You will develop stakeholder relations, manage social investment programs and oversee social license to operate.

The role demands 8+ years in community relations or CSR, excellent communication and conflict resolution, and the ability to work across Legal, Operations and Communications teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years in community relations, stakeholder engagement, or CSR, preferably in mining.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field; a Master's degree is an advantage.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.

About the Role

Our client, a responsible and forward-thinking player in the mining sector , is seeking a highly experienced Senior Community Relations Manager to lead engagement efforts in the Randburg, Gauteng area. This critical role involves building and maintaining positive relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and government entities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and executing community development initiatives, managing social license to operate, and addressing community concerns effectively. This position requires a deep understanding of stakeholder engagement, corporate social responsibility, and the unique socio-economic dynamics of the communities surrounding our operations in Gauteng .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic community engagement plans and stakeholder relationship management frameworks.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for local communities, community leaders, and relevant government agencies.
• Oversee the implementation of community development projects and social investment programs.
• Manage stakeholder feedback mechanisms and ensure timely and appropriate responses to concerns.
• Conduct social impact assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams (e.g., Legal, Operations, Communications).
• Monitor and report on community relations activities and their impact.
• Ensure alignment of community engagement strategies with the company's overall business objectives and CSR policies.
• Represent the company at community meetings, forums, and events.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
• A Master's degree is an advantage.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement, or corporate social responsibility, preferably within the mining or resources sector.
• Proven track record in building trust and fostering positive relationships with diverse community groups.
• Strong understanding of socio-economic development principles and project management.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
• Proficiency in relevant software for reporting and communication.
• Deep knowledge of the social and political landscape in the South African context.
