About the Role

Our client, a dynamic non-profit organization committed to fostering community development and social cohesion in Randburg, Gauteng , is seeking an experienced and strategic Community Engagement Lead. This leadership role is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing initiatives that build strong relationships between the organization and the diverse communities it serves. The Community Engagement Lead will identify key stakeholders, facilitate dialogue, and develop programs that address community needs and promote participation. This position requires exceptional leadership, outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of community dynamics. You will be pivotal in enhancing our client's impact and presence within the Randburg area.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive community engagement strategy aligned with the organization's goals.
• Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with key community stakeholders, leaders, and partner organizations.
• Design and implement programs and events that foster community participation, dialogue, and collaboration.
• Facilitate community meetings, workshops, and consultations to gather input and address concerns.
• Represent the organization in community forums and public events, acting as a key liaison.
• Oversee the development of communication materials to effectively engage diverse community audiences.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of engagement strategies and programs, reporting on outcomes.
• Manage budgets for community engagement initiatives, ensuring responsible financial stewardship.
• Lead and mentor a team of community engagement staff and volunteers.
• Stay informed about community needs, trends, and opportunities relevant to the organization's work.
• Develop strategies to promote inclusivity and ensure diverse voices are heard and incorporated.
• Build capacity within the organization and community for effective engagement practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Community Development, Sociology, Public Relations, Social Work, or a related field.
• A Master's degree is advantageous.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, or program management, preferably within the non-profit sector.
• Proven track record of successfully designing and implementing community engagement strategies.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships with diverse community groups.
• Proficiency in project management, budget management, and data analysis.
• Understanding of community development principles and best practices.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
• Passion for community empowerment and social impact within Randburg, Gauteng .
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally.
