Job summary

Morton Moore Pty Ltd in Kloof, South Africa is seeking an experienced Claims Handler to manage personal and commercial lines claims from start to finish. The role is fully office-based with no hybrid option, and requires FAIS qualification and RE5 or equivalent regulatory exams.

You will appoint assessors, liaise with insurers and clients, review policy wordings, and ensure timely settlements while maintaining accurate records. A strong admin skillset and excellent communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in personal and commercial lines claims.
• FAIS qualified in both personal and commercial lines.
• Regulatory examinations completed (e.g. RE5).
• Strong administration and organisational skills with close attention to detail.
• Assertive and confident, with good interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and process personal and commercial lines claims from registration through to finalisation.
• Register new claims and ensure all supporting documentation is obtained and accurately captured.
• Appoint and brief assessors, and follow up on assessment reports.
• Authorise repairs and replacements within mandate and in line with policy terms.
• Liaise with clients, insurers, assessors and service providers to keep claims moving efficiently.
• Keep clients informed of claim progress and outcomes in a professional and timely manner.
• Review policy wordings to confirm cover and identify potential claim issues.
• Negotiate with service providers and insurers to secure fair and cost-effective settlements.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date claim records and administration on internal systems.
• Follow up on outstanding claims to ensure strict deadlines and turnaround times are met.
• Resolve client queries and resolve complex or disputed claims where necessary.
• Ensure all claims handling complies with FAIS and other relevant regulatory requirements.
