Placements24 is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join our client’s transport infrastructure team in Pretoria, Gauteng. The role focuses on planning, design, and implementation of road and transport projects across the region, developing technical solutions and design documentation to meet standards and client expectations.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering.
• ECSA Candidate Engineer or Professional Engineer preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in civil road design and infrastructure.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MX Roads.
• Experience with traffic modelling software advantageous.
• Strong understanding of South African road design standards (e.g., COTO).
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment and manage workload independently.

Responsibilities

• Design and development of road infrastructure, including geometric design, pavement design, and drainage systems.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, plans, sections, and specifications using relevant software.
• Conduct traffic analysis and impact studies.
• Undertake quantity surveying and cost estimation for proposed works.
• Ensure compliance with national and provincial road design standards and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, other disciplines, and external stakeholders.
• Assist in the preparation of tender documents and technical reports.
• Review designs and calculations for accuracy and completeness.
