Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Civil Design Engineer for a fully remote role serving infrastructure projects across South Africa, including Upington and the Northern Cape. You will design roads, drainage and earthworks, using CAD tools and adhering to SA standards.

Strong remote-collaboration skills and autonomy are essential for success. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in civil infrastructure design, proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or Revit, and a solid grasp of municipal processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Pr. Eng. or Candidate Engineer registration with ECSA is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in civil infrastructure design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, or similar civil design software.
• Strong understanding of road design, stormwater management, and earthworks principles.
• Familiarity with South African civil engineering standards and municipal processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design calculations for roads, drainage, earthworks, and other civil infrastructure components.
• Prepare design drawings, specifications, and tender documentation using CAD software.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, by-laws, and client requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, senior engineers, and other disciplines for integrated designs.
• Review designs for constructability, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to objectives.
• Assist in preparing design reports and feasibility studies.
• Respond to RFIs during the construction phase.
• Maintain organized project files and records.
• Stay current with industry best practices and new design technologies.
