Placements24 is seeking a Remote Civil Design Engineer to lead design and planning for urban development projects across South Africa. The role requires strong software skills (AutoCAD/Civil 3D), a focus on roads, drainage, and site grading, and the ability to work autonomously from a home office.

You will collaborate with project managers and other engineers via digital channels, deliver detailed drawings and reports, and stay current with SA standards while meeting deadlines in a remote

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 5 years of professional civil design experience focused on urban development.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design software.
• Knowledge of South African standards and municipal requirements; strong remote-collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop civil infrastructure plans for urban projects, including site layout and grading.
• Prepare detailed drawings, calculations, and technical specifications using relevant software.
• Conduct feasibility studies and site analyses to inform design decisions.
• Ensure designs comply with national/local building codes and environmental standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers via digital platforms.
• Review design submissions and respond to RFIs from construction teams.
• Perform quality assurance checks on designs for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist in project proposals and cost estimates.
• Stay updated on civil engineering technologies and best practices.
