About the Role

Our client, a distinguished civil engineering consultancy, is seeking a seasoned Senior Civil Engineer with a specialization in transportation infrastructure to join their team in Vereeniging . This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality road and transport projects across the Gauteng province. You will be responsible for leading the design, planning, and project management of various transportation schemes, including highways, arterial roads, and intersection improvements. The position requires a strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, geometric design, pavement analysis, and drainage systems. You will work closely with clients, government agencies, and construction teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to take on greater responsibility and contribute to the region's infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and planning of road, highway, and intersection projects, adhering to SADC, national, and provincial standards. Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and construction cost estimates. Conduct traffic studies, geometric design, pavement design, and drainage analysis. Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources, ensuring successful project execution. Liaise with clients, municipal authorities, provincial departments, and other stakeholders. Oversee construction supervision activities and resolve design-related issues during construction. Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians within the transportation team. Ensure all designs comply with relevant environmental and safety regulations. Participate in proposal development and business development activities.

Requirements

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering. Professional registration as a Pr. Eng. with ECSA is mandatory. A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in transportation engineering and road design. Proficiency in using transportation engineering software such as Civil Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoTURN, and HEC-RAS. Strong understanding of geometric design principles, pavement engineering, and traffic analysis. Proven experience in managing transportation projects and stakeholder engagement. Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Must be based in or willing to relocate to Vereeniging .
