Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is required.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is required.
• Minimum 7 years of specialized experience in transportation engineering and design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PTV Vissim, Synchro or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop geometric alignments for roads, highways, and interchanges.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop geometric alignments for new and upgraded roads, highways, and interchanges.
• Conduct traffic studies, including traffic impact assessments, capacity analyses, and operational analyses.
• Develop traffic control plans, intersection designs, and signal timing strategies.
• Plan and design for public transportation facilities, including bus routes, stations, and terminals.
• Integrate pedestrian and cyclist facilities into transportation designs to promote active transport.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports for transportation projects.
• Liaise with clients, government agencies (e.g., SANRAL, provincial departments), and stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
• Manage project tasks, timelines, and budgets related to transportation engineering components.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians in transportation design principles.
• Stay current with advancements in transportation engineering software and methodologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA.
• A minimum of 7 years of specialized experience in transportation engineering and design.
• Proven experience in geometric road design, traffic analysis, and traffic impact studies.
• Proficiency in transportation engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PTV Vissim, Synchro, or similar.
• Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, South African geometric standards, and traffic management practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
