Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Civil Design Engineer to join our Pretoria team. You will lead design work for road and highway projects, perform traffic analyses, and prepare detailed drawings and specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D and MX Road.

The role involves coordinating with disciplines, reviewing standards, and supporting construction with site inspections. The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering degree, 4+ years in transportation design, and may hold Pr Eng or EIT status.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 4+ years of professional experience in transportation engineering and design.
• Pr Eng or EIT status with ECSA is desirable.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MX Road, or similar transportation design software.
• Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles and transportation planning.

Responsibilities

• Develop and prepare conceptual and detailed designs for road and highway projects.
• Perform geometric design, traffic analysis, and capacity assessment for transportation networks.
• Design drainage systems, culverts, bridges, and related infrastructure components.
• Produce engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D and relevant software.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
• Review designs for compliance with national standards, local regulations, and project requirements.
• Provide technical support during construction, including site inspections and responding to queries.

Requirements

• Requirements Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in transportation engineering and design.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or EIT (Engineer-in-Training) status with ECSA is desirable.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MX Road, or similar transportation design software.
• Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles and transportation planning.
• Knowledge of road safety standards and geometric design principles.
• Excellent report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Experience with environmental impact assessments and permitting processes is a plus.
