Placements24 is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer in Sandton, Gauteng, to lead transportation projects and road design. You will oversee design teams, manage timelines and client relations, and ensure compliance with relevant standards.

The role requires 7+ years in transportation design, Pr Eng preference, and proficiency in Civil 3D/AutoCAD/MXRoads. Hybrid work arrangements may be available to support work-life balance.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 7+ years in transportation and road design.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA preferred.
• Experience with major road projects incl highways and urban roads.
• Proficient in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MXRoads or similar.
• Strong leadership, PM and communication skills.

Responsabilidades

About the Role

Our client, a leading infrastructure engineering consultancy, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer with specialized expertise in transportation and road design to join their team in Sandton, Gauteng . This role involves leading the design and development of major road networks, highways, and associated transportation infrastructure. You will be responsible for overseeing design teams, ensuring the technical integrity of projects, and managing client relationships. We are looking for a proactive and experienced engineer who can contribute to the planning, design, and implementation of complex transportation projects that enhance connectivity and mobility. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering projects that meet stringent quality, safety, and environmental standards, contributing to the continued development of South Africa's transportation landscape. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of transportation infrastructure projects, including highways, arterial roads, and urban streetscapes.
• Prepare detailed road alignment designs, geometric layouts, intersection designs, and pavement designs.
• Conduct traffic studies, capacity analyses, and traffic control device designs.
• Develop comprehensive stormwater management and drainage plans for road projects.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, such as structural and geotechnical engineers, to integrate designs.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively for assigned projects.
• Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and tender documents.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national and provincial standards (e.g., the South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) standards).
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians within the transportation design team.
• Liaise with clients, government agencies, and stakeholders to ensure project success and approvals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in transportation and road design.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in the design of major road projects, including highways and urban roads.
• Proficiency in transportation design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MXRoads, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of traffic engineering principles, pavement design, and drainage design.
• Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills.
• Experience in managing client relations and project teams.
• Familiarity with SANRAL design manuals and South African road design practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment in Sandton, Gauteng.
