Responsibilities

• Oversee installation of bulk earthworks, roads, stormwater, and utilities reticulation.

About the Role

Our client, a reputable property development and engineering consultancy, is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join their team in Paarl, Western Cape. This role is focused on the civil engineering aspects of land development projects, including site grading, road design, stormwater management, and utility connections for residential and commercial estates. As this is an on-site role, you will be actively involved in project execution, site supervision, and coordination with development partners. The ideal candidate is an experienced civil engineer with a strong understanding of land development principles and a proven ability to manage projects from conception through to construction completion in the Paarl region. You will play a key role in shaping the built environment of this growing community.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the civil design for land development projects, including site feasibility studies, grading, drainage, and road layouts.
• Prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings, calculations, and specifications using Civil 3D and other relevant software.
• Coordinate with surveyors, architects, environmental consultants, and contractors to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Manage the approval process with local authorities and utility providers.
• Conduct site inspections during construction to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
• Oversee the installation of bulk earthworks, roads, stormwater systems, and water/sanitation reticulation.
• Manage project budgets and timelines for civil engineering components.
• Prepare tender documentation and evaluate contractor proposals.
• Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, zoning regulations, and environmental legislation.
• Mentor junior engineering staff and provide technical guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in land development and site engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and stormwater modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM).
• Strong understanding of South African land development regulations and municipal standards.
• Excellent project management and coordination skills.
• Proven experience in managing projects from planning through to construction.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to work independently and lead project teams effectively.
• A valid driver's license is required for site visits in and around Paarl.
