The ideal candidate has a Ph.D. or Master in Analytical Chemistry with 5–7 years of pharma analytical experience, and hands-on experience with HPLC, UPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, UV-Vis, FTIR, and dissolution

About the Role

Our client, a respected pharmaceutical company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Pharmaceutical Analytical Scientist to join their advanced laboratory in Klerksdorp, North West . This role is critical for supporting drug development and ensuring the quality of pharmaceutical products through robust analytical testing and method development.

The Senior Analytical Scientist will be responsible for designing, validating, and implementing analytical methods for the characterization of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products. They will also play a key role in troubleshooting analytical issues and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory guidelines. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and transfer analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, GC, spectroscopy, dissolution testing) for raw materials, intermediates, and finished pharmaceutical products.
• Perform routine and non-routine analytical testing to support product development, stability studies, and quality control.
• Characterize drug substances and drug products, including impurity profiling and identification.
• Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and resolve analytical issues encountered during testing.
• Ensure all analytical activities are conducted in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Prepare detailed analytical method validation reports, study protocols, and scientific documentation.
• Review and interpret analytical data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with specifications.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior analytical scientists and technicians.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in analytical techniques and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in pharmaceutical analytical development and testing.
• Extensive hands-on experience with a variety of analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, UPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, UV-Vis, FTIR, and dissolution apparatus.
• Strong understanding of method development and validation principles according to ICH guidelines.
• Proficiency in data analysis software and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document scientific findings clearly and concisely.
• Experience with raw material testing and finished product release testing.
