Placements24 is seeking a Senior Chemist specializing in Analytical Development to join their R&D laboratory in Nelspruit. You will establish and validate analytical methods for new chemical entities and ensure product quality in a regulated pharmaceutical setting. The role requires a Ph.D.

or M.S. in Chemistry with 5+ years in method development and validation, hands-on use of HPLC/UPLC, GC, MS, and spectroscopy, and strong regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or M.S. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in analytical method development and validation in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Extensive hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, UPLC, GC, Mass Spectrometry, and spectroscopy.
• Strong understanding of regulatory guidelines (ICH) for analytical method validation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Proficiency in data analysis and scientific documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods (HPLC, GC, MS, spectroscopy) for drug substances and products.
• Perform routine and non-routine analytical testing to support R&D, development, and quality control.
• Characterize impurities and degradation products using advanced analytical techniques.
• Write detailed method validation reports and SOPs.
• Troubleshoot analytical instrumentation and method-related issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including formulation scientists and QA.
