Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Senior Analytical Chemist to join a pharmaceutical R&D and quality control division in Richards Bay. You will lead method development, validation, and routine analyses to ensure product safety and compliance.

The ideal candidate holds a Masters or PhD in Chemistry with 5+ years of analytical pharma experience, hands-on HPLC, GC-MS, UV-Vis, dissolution testing, and strong GMP/ICH knowledge, plus LIMS proficiency. On-site role in Richards Bay.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for drug substance and drug product testing using HPLC, GC-MS, UV-Vis, and spectroscopy.
• Perform routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to meet specifications.
• Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation with calibration and performance checks.
• Investigate OOS results and deviations, implementing CAPAs.
• Prepare analytical reports and validation documentation, including stability study protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and implement analytical methods for drug substance and drug product testing using techniques like HPLC, GC, MS, and spectroscopy.
• Perform routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to ensure they meet predefined specifications.
• Operate and maintain sophisticated analytical instrumentation, ensuring calibration and optimal performance.
• Investigate and troubleshoot out-of-specification (OOS) results and deviations, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
• Prepare detailed analytical reports, method validation documentation, and stability study protocols.
• Ensure all laboratory activities comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and relevant regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in analytical chemistry within the pharmaceutical industry .
• Extensive hands-on experience with HPLC, GC-MS , UV-Vis spectroscopy, and dissolution testing.
• Strong knowledge of GMP regulations, ICH guidelines, and analytical method validation principles.
• Excellent data interpretation skills and proficiency with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
