Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Analytical Chemist to join their quality control and research division in Stellenbosch. The role focuses on developing, validating, and implementing analytical methods to ensure product quality, with work across R&D and QC in a hybrid laboratory setting.

The candidate will lead method development, data interpretation, and instrument troubleshooting while mentoring junior staff and contributing to regulatory compliance and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Analytical Chemistry or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in analytical chemistry.
• Hands-on with chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques.
• Experience with method development and regulatory validation.
• Strong data analysis and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods for materials and products.
• Perform routine and non-routine chemical analyses using HPLC, GC, MS, ICP-OES, UV-Vis.
• Interpret data, troubleshoot instruments, ensure data integrity.
• Write and review validation reports, SOPs, and technical documents.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Analytical Chemist to join their quality control and research division in Stellenbosch . This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and integrity of our client's products through rigorous chemical analysis. You will be responsible for developing, validating, and implementing analytical methods, as well as interpreting complex analytical data. This hybrid position offers the chance to contribute to critical product development and quality assurance processes within a supportive and technologically advanced laboratory setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods for raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using various techniques.
• Perform routine and non-routine chemical analysis using state-of-the-art instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, GC, MS, ICP-OES, UV-Vis).
• Interpret complex analytical data, troubleshoot instrument issues, and ensure data integrity and accuracy.
• Write and review analytical method validation reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical documents.
• Collaborate with research and development teams to support new product development and process improvements.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior analytical chemists.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Analytical Chemistry , Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in analytical chemistry , preferably in a pharmaceutical or chemical industry setting.
• Extensive hands-on experience with chromatographic (HPLC, GC) and spectroscopic techniques.
• Proficiency in method development and validation according to regulatory guidelines.
• Strong understanding of quality control principles and regulatory requirements.
