Placements24 in Cape Town is seeking a Senior Chemical Process Engineer to optimize existing processes and develop new ones, driving efficiency across production lines.

You will work with R&D, production, and QA to scale lab concepts to commercial practice, mentor junior engineers, and lead projects from conception through implementation.

A strong background in chemical engineering, 7+ years of design and optimization experience, and proficiency with process simulation and PFDs/P&IDs are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 7+ years of industry experience in chemical process design and optimization.
• PrEng registration is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes for efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct feasibility studies and pilot plant trials for new process development.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational and technical issues in existing processes.
• Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Perform process simulations and modeling to predict and improve process performance.
• Ensure all processes comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with R&D to scale up laboratory processes to commercial production.
• Manage process engineering projects, including scope definition, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
• Stay updated on new technologies and best practices in chemical process engineering.
