Job summary

Placements24 in Port Elizabeth is seeking a seasoned Senior Chemical Engineer focused on production to join our client’s team. You will lead technical efforts to ensure safe, efficient operation of the chemical plant and drive continuous improvement across processes and yields.

This hands-on role requires strong plant operations knowledge, leadership, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while collaborating with maintenance and design teams to upgrade equipment and meet regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in chemical plant operations and production support.
• Proven track record in process optimization and continuous improvement.
• Strong understanding of process safety, environmental regulations, and quality control systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and support to production teams, ensuring optimal plant performance and product quality.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for process upsets, equipment failures, and quality deviations, implementing lasting solutions.
• Develop and execute strategies for process optimization, yield improvement, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Oversee process safety management programs, conducting risk assessments and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical training to operations personnel.
• Collaborate with maintenance and engineering departments on equipment upgrades and reliability projects.
