Job summary

Placements24 in Gauteng seeks a Senior Structural Civil Engineer to lead design and analysis of bridge structures. The role involves detailed calculations, drawings, and site studies for major public works in a hands-on, collaborative setting.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, ensure conformance to SANS standards, and mentor junior engineers while advancing high-quality infrastructure projects in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering is advantageous.
• Professional registration as Pr. Eng. or C.Eng with ECSA is required.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant structural engineering experience, focusing on bridges.
• Experience with structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, MIDAS).
• Knowledge of concrete, steel and composite structures; familiarity with SANS standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design of bridge structures (superstructure and substructure).
• Develop design calculations, drawings and specifications using industry software.
• Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies for bridge projects.
• Collaborate with civil, geotechnical engineers and architects.
• Review shop drawings and provide technical support during construction in Gauteng.
• Ensure compliance with national and international codes and standards.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations and tender proposals.
• Mentor junior engineers and design technicians in structural design principles.
• Participate in QA/QC activities to maintain high engineering standards.
