Placements24 is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer for a prestigious Sandton project in Gauteng. You will lead the structural design of complex bridges, perform seismic and load assessments, and prepare detailed drawings and reports for national road networks.

The role requires a Pr Eng registration with ECSA and at least 10 years in bridge design and project management. You will mentor teams, liaise with clients and stakeholders, and travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with a bridges specialization.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive bridge design and project management experience.
• Proven expertise in bridge modeling and analysis software (MIDAS Civil, CSiBridge, Prokon).
• Extensive knowledge of bridge construction techniques and materials.
• Experience leading large-scale bridge projects and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and client management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a demanding Sandton project environment.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design of bridge types, including concrete, steel, and composite.
• Conduct detailed analysis, including seismic and load-rating assessments.
• Prepare design reports, specifications, and construction drawings.
• Manage bridge construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality and schedule compliance.
• Oversee and mentor junior bridge engineers and design teams.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with design codes and standards (e.g., SANS 1517, TMH7).
• Review construction plans, shop drawings, and respond to site queries.
• Provide expert advice on bridge maintenance, inspection, and rehabilitation in Gauteng.
