Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer (bridges) to lead design, analysis, and inspection of highway, pedestrian, and railway bridges in Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will mentor junior engineers and ensure safety and longevity of critical infrastructure.

Ideal candidates hold a Pr.Eng with ECSA and have 9+ years in bridge design, with proficiency in MIDAS, LUSAS, or CSI Bridge. Travel to project sites in the Northern Cape is expected.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering with a specialization in bridge engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• A minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in bridge engineering design and project management.
• Proven track record in the design of major bridge structures.
• Proficiency in bridge design and analysis software such as MIDAS Civil, LUSAS Bridge, CSiBridge, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design, analysis, and specification of various bridge types (concrete, steel, composite).
• Conduct detailed structural assessments and condition surveys of existing bridge structures.
• Develop rehabilitation and strengthening designs for aging bridges.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant SANS codes and bridge standards.
• Manage bridge engineering projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and resources.
• Collaborate with geotechnical, transportation, and construction engineers.
• Provide mentorship to junior bridge engineers and technicians.
• Oversee construction supervision for bridge projects, ensuring quality and adherence to design.
• Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
• Stay current with advancements in bridge engineering materials and methods.
